Under the Grill
Australian celebrity chef, Sean Connolly has his work cut out in this fast-paced observational series about creating a successful multi-million dollar restaurant.
Connolly is given $4 million, 100 days and the lobby of Auckland’s famous Sky City Grand Hotel in which to design, build and deliver his steak and seafood restaurant, ‘The Grill by Sean Connolly’. There’s an additional insurmountable time pressure: the restaurant must be up-and-running in time for the start of the Rugby World Cup.
Gain an insight to this real-life pressure cooker as Connolly starts from scratch - choosing tableware, sourcing suppliers, designing uniforms and installing a brand new kitchen. There are problems along the way; construction is dusty, delayed and noisy, and as well as ensuring the project proceeds according to his vision, Connolly must deal with the practical problems of creating a restaurant within a still-functioning and busy five-star hotel.
Connolly’s forthright manner makes for compelling viewing, and gives Under the Grill a similar style to Gordon Ramsay’s The F-Word. Expect stress, fraying patience and behind the scenes access into what is involved in creating a successful multi-million dollar restaurant.
